Cherry, Black (Prunus serotina): Widely considered the premier cabinet wood of North America, Black Cherry is used for furniture, moulding, flooring and paneling as well as finer applications like instrument making and carving. The heartwood of Black Cherry is a deep red, while the sapwood is creamy in color. Sensitive to UV light exposure, the wood darkens in hours. It produces uniformly straight grain and is moderate in weight and structural stability.
